The appetite for greener, more sustainable methods of long-distance freight transportation has grown exponentially over the past decade. This is no surprise; freight is well-established as a major contributor to climate change and general air quality. The good news is we have seen several large logistics and vehicle companies forging partnerships and making commitments to develop green fleets. The bad news is that technical barriers have stood in their way. Until now.

Breaking the Range Barrier

We needed to break the “range barrier” of electric vehicles. Freight companies cover lots of territory with heavy loads, and their trucks need the power to get the job done. Running out of fuel is simply not an option in our hyper-linked, fast-moving economy. Tevva has broken the range barrier with our zero-emission e-trucks by adding a range extender to our vehicles, giving drivers total peace of mind while delivering all the power of a diesel. We believe the future of range-extension — and the full potential of e-vehicles — lies in hydrogen fuel cells and we are investing all of our expertise and resources in making this a reality across the Tevva fleet.

There has been a promising confluence of developments for renewables in the world’s top economy. The new presidential administration has made clean energy and freight a top priority. Pete Buttigieg, the new United States Transportation Secretary has set ambitious targets for electric and automated freight fleet vehicles that he plans to roll out along the framework of President Biden’s proposed $2T infrastructure plan for the US.

Thanks to our technological breakthroughs and the growing public commitment to renewables, the Tevva team is confident in the future of zero-emission freight and is expanding the development of our carbon efficient, range-extended technology, which is now in use by UPS. When it comes to providing the power to zero-emission transport, Tevva is in it for the long-haul.
